NZD/USD Transfer
The New Zealand Dollar (NZD) has held up reasonably well against the US Dollar (USD) over the past day or so since Trump’s Tariff speech. Volatility was insane during the Presidents “liberation” address with price dipping to 0.5680 but turning bid to 0.5770. In the following hours with massive losses in US equity markets the NZD wasn’t able to hold 0.5850 dropping to 0.5780 late in the NY session. Trump imposed a 10% tariff on all NZ made products. From here tariff risks should see downside pressures on the kiwi as effects to global growth starts to unfold. US Non-Farm Payroll data prints tonight and should reflect an untick in the number of people who entered the workforce in March. Those looking to buy USD in the short term may want to consider above 0.5730 levels.
The current interbank midrate is: NZDUSD 0.5791
The interbank range this week has been: NZDUSD 0.5647- 0.5852
